Thank you all for your wonderful designs, we had an incredibly difficult choice. Beside personal tastes, we tried to give attention to designers that brought certain ideas forward, made changes that made things really "ring" for us, and were proactive in communicating with us. I'd like to thank Harry for bringing the idea of using the O the drop and then moved it outside the name, for talking us into the use of orange, and most of all legible type ( including the small tagline bolding and spreading out ). We loved Anoise's design and liked the idea of bringing a tube into the design. And we also looked long and hard at Fawwaz's designs. Thanks also Dimza, and MarvelousThings for translating some of our ideas into lovely designs that were very well executed but in the end we felt the tube as a separate icon captured by the circle was most representative and striking for our purposes. I'll definitely come back for some web and print designs as our company grows. Cheers, Melodie
Had a question that may help others about our product: We provide a tiny amount of liquid in those small PCR tubes that is the test solution. Our customers then add a drop or so of their DNA sample (in liquid form) into our test solution. That solution is then stuck into a small PCR machine that keeps them at a certain temperature - but no spinning like a centrifuge and nothing interesting to look at either I am afraid.
Thanks for the newest submissions - it helps giving some more feedback that may narrow things down a little:
- I like the "simpler/ cleaner" designs - not too complex an icon or graphic treatment
- given above - I do like incorporation of a slight gradation/ even three dimensional treatment if kept in a small area like an area of the icon or lettering - I have seen repetition of part of the logo as a watermark in the background or footer and I do like that a lot
- I like so far the best designs that show lettering in a modern green and some orange as an accent - or no orange at all
- I don't like med/light blue in the design
- double helix's do not work - sorry it's so tempting but not quite our business
- The only graphics that I could think of are the zig-zack type of readout line that is on our website www.accumol.com - or - a stylized version of the pcr tubes see www.axygen.com/categories/pcr/core_products/pcr-0208 or the dna string: GCTAATCG ( repeated in any manner as a single line or letter in a jumble or a page full of letters with focus on the A for Accumol ( not sexy but maybe it can provide some inspiration ? )
Hi MarvelousThings, I like both the orange and green colour choices - nice and modern looking. Also the integration of the spiky graph output line on our website is great. I do think though the tagline is a little heavy looking I think the tagline is a little heavy looking and the the A looks a little out of place. As far as I can pinpoint it's got to do with the width of the spiky line ( a little wide so it doesn't clearly look like a spike or an A and it may be a little difficult to understand that it is an A in the first place ( I see it but there may be confusion with a few folks). Thanks Melodie
Hi anoise, I like the font & colour choice - nice and clean - the molecule like image is lovely but sadly it is not representative of our industry so much. Maybe one of the other comments inspires? Thanks Melodie
Hello, one thing that doesn't work are molecules - the blobs with lines between they are more related to chemistry not so much to our business in molecular biology. Thanks Melodie
Hello designers, I have another potential idea that could be incorporated: our products come in strips of PCR tubes that are recognizable to the user here is a url example: http://www.axygen.com/categories/pcr/core_products/pcr-0208
