Thx for cleaning the pyramid up in #65, Creative. It looks really good now!
And excellent idea, for the text color changes. I accept!
Final remarks are on #66 (quicker to explain on the drawing itself...)
Overall my appreciation for an excellent job...

Prefer pyramid as in #64 over #62, with Joy enlarged...
    Other comments still valid!

CreativeSpin, I absolutely love what you did!
You're such a joy to work with!

I would like the final design to be like #62 (with my apologies for the clumsy execution, I couldn't get the shading to work from top to bottom, but that's still what I prefer)

    - I like the brown color of #61 better than #60, richer indeed.
    - I prefer the tree stem shape of #44, rather than the straight stem; with the "flexible" tip the design looks more playful, childlike
    - Can you match the green of the drawing more closely to that of the text part, as in my example?
    - Please also include some shading on the tree stem; it looks a bit "flat"; darkest at bottom
    - Could you round the tip off the straight cut for the "hands" to make it a more organic shape?
    - Please keep B/W version to black, white and one gray tone as in #44, same configuration

I think we're pretty much done after this...
You did a great job! Thank you so much!!!

    #51 CreativeSpin:
    Some afterthoughts:
    - I would like the body of the embracing symbol to be about 20% thinner on the side of the back. Don't change size/position of head at the moment.
    - The tip of the tree stem is pointing away from the center of the leaves. Could you make it point to the (white) center by either giving it a slight curve at the top in the other direction like a swaying palm tree OR by moving the foliage to the left a little? Whichever seems better to you...
    Thanks...
Your design is "growing" on me! :-)

no text at the bottom please, and please take into account other comments...

    #51 CreativeSpin:
    This is a near perfect!
I'm not totally satisfied with the brown, would like to see a couple of different hues (staying within the limits of brown though) or maybe different shadings/transitions. The word describing the color I'm looking for is a "rich" brown earthlike color.
    Fantastic job so far!

    #44 CreativeSpin:
Not bad! Looks very clean. Color scheme is good also.
The head & embracing arms is a VERY good idea, but the proportions of the head are not right. Try lowering it a little and/or making it slightly bigger. Also try the brown (of the "Planters")for this instead of green.
Don't make any one continent (here Africa) central.
Try the tree growing out of the earth instead of superposed (on top of it, or/and with roots encompassing the earth/or more "coming out" of the hand of the person?)

    #46 Yutta:
Better! Please try the complete rainbow sequence as requested earlier (7 colors). Orange is missing and the colors present are not the right hue. Please also try an outline drawing in B/W as requested earlier.

    Dan,

    See #43...
Take Planet colors of #32 (=good)
NOT Planet colors of #34-40 (=too pale)

    Kids: Good, I like them!
    - change clothes colors to black and white like boy in #10 (NO pink or fuchsia!)

    Thank you!

Dan, I really don't understand why you come up with #32 & #33, because they each have only ONE thing changed of the 5 major requests detailed in my previous comment. I can't really put it more simply. I put a lot of time into giving you feedback, but your command of English seems to be blocking your understanding of very basic instructions? It IS moving in the right direction, but at this speed we will not get around to a finished design even in 30 days. I appreciate your goodwill but you need to take English classes or have a friend who speaks English well translate my instructions for you...

    OK, Dan, in simple language:
I want in the same drawing = ONE drawing:
    - the earth as big as the circle of #26
but in yellow and green as in #10
    - nothing else for the drawing right now
no kid, no watering can, no leaf, no stripes, nothing
    - Joy like in #25
but with the J a lot bigger
    AND
the Y is the stem of a tree
(You add a contour/silhouette of tree leaves around the stem in a light color)
    - Planters like in #19
but reduce the part of the T that is sticking out above (not like a cross)
    - Learning to... like in #4
but green on top, brown on bottom

I also want completely different ideas, like Yutta's
    - jumping kids
    - a sun
    - young kids
    ...

    Yutta #31
Joy is certainly there but I have a problem with the colour scheme
    Propose you try two things:
    - Rainbow sequenced colour fill both for the drawing and for the letters (like you did alternating the three colors)
    - Black and white line drawing, keep shapes
    For both drawings:
    - drop the JP in the middle, it's not an integral part of the design

If I don't like the result for the text, I might want to switch to the fonts chosen for Dan's drawing (instructions higher)

    Thanks both!

One more thing:I`m afraid I didn`t understand quite well the idea " At this point....."
Did you mean I to design only the Earh and the leaf in the circle without boy?

  • August 3, 2011 11:33 AM dancelav

    Fine,
You asked joy for nr.5,8and 10.
    Planters for 2,5,8and 10
    tagline for 5 and 8
I`ll send separate for joy planter and tagline

The idea of the circle in #26 is not bad. At this point I would get rid of the central drawing in #26 altogether and have the circle be the yellow and green earth, with the text over it like you did for the green circle.

#19 Keep this font for "Planters". Can you pare down the top notch of the T a little so that it is not reminiscent of a crucifix?
Thank you for fixing the N!
#4 Keep font tagline execution as is but reverse colors (green on top, brown at the bottom)

Still hesitating for joy. The capital J in #19 looks the most joyful to me, but the other letters are square, whereas they should be round to my feeling...
Am also questioning the sanity of having THREE unmatched fonts. Maybe for that reason it would be better to have Joy like in #25, which matches the tagline as in #4. I would like the J to be quite a bit bigger though.
The "y" is very reminiscent of a tree stem and branches. Might it become a tree sprouting from the green and yellow planet? Try adding a foliage silhouette in an unobtrusive or transparant color?
    Thx Dan, you're doing good!
I think we have the fonts more or less sorted out: if you can give me a couple of Joy variations within the limits of what I say higher to make a final decision on that, the Planters and the tagline are decided on...
Now we need to concentrate on the central design, but I feel it's coming on very nicely (hope you're not pulling your hair out! :-D)

yes, the font 5 was it used for "Learning To.."
I will read closely what you just put and tomorrow I `ll propose another samples
    Thanks,Dan

    Dan,
I have a request, because the number of designs are adding up quickly and to my view needlessly: We're at 17 designs so far, although I have really only seen 3 different ones (the leafshape (#1 to #4), the one with the blue earth inside the O and the kid (#5 to #8 I think), and the one with the green/yellow earth and the kid (#9 and #10, although I detect no difference at all between these two). You upload and withdraw designs so fast I don't even see some of them (like #11 through #14 and #17). I think minor changes and text placement do not necessarily warrant a new upload. Details we can work out in the final stages...
What I would like to concentrate on now is getting the drawing right, with all the elements in a configuration I really love. If it suits you better I am willing to look at just sketches with different positionings of the elements: it might save you time if you don't have to give the design a completely polished look for every upload? Kind of what you did for the fonts with #15 and #16? That is the most useful approach to me.
Text matters relatively little at this stage (I did ask for a symbol/icon).
    What's your take on this?
If you are worried about getting to 30 designs so I won't go for a refund, I can assure you that I WILL go through with the best design if the designer takes my suggestions into account, as you have been doing consistently.
    Thanks, Dan!

Good idea to present the fonts this way!
    Definitely out are: 1,3,4,6,7,9
Remaining are 2,5,8,10. The spacing for 2 is a bit blockish, otherwise I like it.
My all time favorite is font 5 (are these the capitals to the font you used for #4 "Learning to..."?)
I like font 10 but with the inverted N it is reminiscent of Russian, and I want it the text to be neutral (no preferences for any country or ideology).
Could I see "JOY" and "Joy" in fonts 5, 8 and 10?
For the tagline, let's compare the font for design #4 to font 5 (caps) and font 8, please...
Thank you Dancelav, I think between the two of us we will be able to work out the perfect design!

Oh, this is really starting to look like something! Thank you for your work, dancelav!
I love what you did in #10, with this semi-transparent green look of the earth. I definitely want this yellow-green earth to be part of the final design.
I like the drawing style used for the kid too.
I'm not happy with the fonts at all. The JOY in #10 is the best one so far. The fonts in #5,6,7 I find too chunky.
I would still like to see the return of the tagline font you used for #4, because it gave the impression of roots/branches. Could you play around with that one a little?
I can't zoom into the details of the drawing and it's kind of difficult to appreciate it when it's so small. Would you agree to work on the text and the drawing separately, so I can see it a bit more clearly, and merge them into one for the final version?
For the kid, instead of him sitting demurely, am thinking that it might look very good to have him (or other kid(s)) enthusiastically jumping, so that JOY emanates from his whole being...
Or maybe keep this kid and add silhouettes of others jumping in the background? (compare the banner on http://changingmylife.info/)
Maybe jump up towards a tree silhouette laden with fruit?
This is some really good work, I appreciate it!

As for incorporating the letters JP into the design, I would like them to be functional parts of it, not just "stuck on" like in #1 or #2. Like for instance the curl of the J holding the earth, or the P being part of a tree growing out of it...

Thanks for your quick response, dancelav
I would like the "green" aspect to be more than just a leaf.
And see a clear connection with children/joy/planet earth somewhere.
#4 I like the organic feel of the font for the tagline
