Just got back in town...interesting developments here. there are many different types of dragons. the purpose of posting the stock images is to give designers some idea as to what type of dragon we prefer, as a reference for designing ORIGINAL artwork. I will send feedback privately asap.

    Dear CH :
There is not such thing as modified stock or least shouldn't be encouraged - modifying stock is infringement of copyright, and cheating on the original designers work of art - just my thoughts

ATTENTION DESIGNERS! I will be leaving town for about the next 24 hours for an important personal matter, and I will have limited access to the internet. As this is a crucial time in the contest I thought I would leave some notes:

Favorite concepts so far in no particular order: emblem, superimposed, intertwined dragon with "Seryak".

Favorite Colors: deep red, black, "galvanized steel" (make sure to include flat black and/or white versions), blended is okay, but let's stay away from the blur where some of the color is very light and hard to see.

Dragon: I've posted the examples in the comments of what we like. Original work is better than modified, modified is better than stock.

Font: Original is better than pre-set.

If I have rated your design 3 stars, you have satisfied at least one of the four criteria, but there is still some work to be done.

If your design is rated 4 stars, we are getting very close, but there are some small revisions that need to be made to make it a 5 star, which is something I can live with for the next 20 years.

Keep an eye on your private messages, as I will send you the edits that we would like to see.

Anything less than 3 stars is getting eliminated. All of the information is here, we are looking for someone to tie it all together for us and I am confident somebody will do this before end of day Friday. Will it be you?

example s-shaped dragon with horns and beard:

remember red and black! would be cool to see dragon blowing out chinese symbol for strength and power out of its mouth.

Would like to see some dragons of the variety that have the horns, big nostrils, and beard (less snaky). This is just a head shot:

I'm looking for a full body shot and will post if I find one.

bimpop- your artwork looks clean and professional, but the design looks a little to "corporate". remember, we are a strength and conditioning facility, so there should be more edginess to it. let's stick with either a dragon head or an s-shaped dragon for the artwork thanks!

keeping the options open...here's a good example of an emblem design that could work well for this project:

Designers - I really really like where this revised design concept is headed, great job! Some comments:

    1. I'm looking for an s-shaped dragon (see #29 or #32) versus a typed "S" that has dragon features (see #28)

    2. The "blended" color font is going to look cool on the web, but I'm not sure how it will look printed on a tee-shirt? so, if you do this, make sure to include a flat color (while maintaining color in the dragon) like #29.

    3. I'd like to see a draft with business name superimposed over the dragon so it is not simply sitting above the name or integrated within the name as in #32.

    4. i want to make sure that "strength and conditioning" receives close to equal attention as "seryak" in terms of heigth and width.

    5. Celman is winning the battle for best font right now. it's clean, creative and original, and it matches the concept.

    6. I'd like to stick mostly with deep "3d" like red for the color in the dragon; although, the red/orange combo looks nice too.

    7. If you are going to use the dragon as the "S" in "Seryak", use it for the "S" in "Strength" as well. Our name is not known well enough at this time and i'm afraid people might think the name is "eryak".

Great job so far, keep up the good work!

Here's an example of a dragon head: http://www.reddragongames.com/

Here's an example of a full dragon shaped like an "S" (hint): http://greatdragonbuy.en.ecplaza.net/

Please use these only as a reference for your original design. Keep in mind that the dragon should have enough detail, but not too much because that could make it look worse. There is a ton of room for creativity here. Superimpose the dragon symbol behind the business name, make a play on the "S" in Seryak and Strength, a circular emblem with an "S" Shaped dragon in the middle and business name surrounding, etc. Your the artist, these are just some ideas. There is still room to implement a barbell or dumbbell (in dragon claws or mouth) but be careful don't just use rectangles to create a bar or plate.

    Here's another example: http://www.southamptonaikido.co.uk/news.htm

and, the chinese symbol for strength and power: http://www.chinese-symbols.com/p-chinese-symbol-for-power%20(strength%20or%20force)

ANNOUNCEMENT! we have decided to expand this project and raise the prize amount significantly. we would like to change the direction of the current contest. Instead of incorporating weightlifting implements (barbell, etc) or figures we would like to see designs that incorporate either a chinese tribal dragon (represents strength, power and balance) or the chinese symbol for strength or both. We are not chinese, these are just recognized symbols of strength and power, which are two physical abilities we prioritize in training. The font should match the concept. The colors should be deep "3d" red and black. The black should be replaceable with white in case we decide to print our logo on a black tee shirt. I will be posting links to give you ideas momentarily. The current submissions are not out of the running, we just think the new concept could produce some very nice looking designs.

#16...typography for "Seryak" looks great! However, we are not fans of the person that has an oval for a head and a swoosh for a body. we are tossing around the idea of scrapping the barbell/barbell movement image and incorporating a tribal chinese dragon (symbol for strength and power). Anyone want to take a stab? Looking for a deep red with black outline...

designers! here are some pictures of some of the main lifts that we incorporate: http://picasaweb.google.com/coachseryak/Logodesignguru#5518036388062669250
remember, if you are going to incorporate a person executing a lift in our logo it should not look like a piece of clipart. refer to draft 2...this, I like.

I'll be uploading pics of proper lifts for back squat, deadlift, clean, jerk and snatch tomorrow...

LogoLogic, we would prefer an olympic bumper plate like that seen here: http://www.google.com/images?hl=en&q=eleiko+bumper+plate&wrapid=tlif12845971378442&um=1&ie=UTF-8&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&biw=1259&bih=627

black or red would be the preferred colors for a bumper plate. "Strength and Conditioning" should read from left to right so that it is right side up and readable. The typography should be strong, bold and clean (refer to #2 font for strength and conditioning). Thanks!

#2 I like where you are going with this! I would like to see "Seryak" toned down a little and "Strength & Conditioning" emphasized a little more. I like the originality of the artwork, but would prefer to see the bar in the finish position overhead. bottom of the hole on a back squat or the finish position on a deadlift would be interesting I think too. I'll try to post some pics later of what i am talking about!
