@elements, I really liked the monochrome designs for an alternative printed media... the only thing I found strange is that the 'e' is a little higher in the monochrome version than in the colored one. Was it intentional?

    Hi guys (and gals)!

Thanks for all the amazing designs... I really can't decide which one to choose. I'm requesting external help... (my wife!)

I've rated the top designs accordingly (5 stars)... I would like to let you all know that I would be more than extremely happy with any one of those!

If there is anything you think you can make to improve the logo (even if it means making it simpler, or creating a nice additional sign) to help me out to make up my mind, now is the time to do that! :-)

    Best wishes to you all!

@traceygl, could you make an alternate version of your draft #13 with a thinner outer border? I think that this may (or may not :-) look even better! (But please, don't withdrawn #13, it is among my top choices... I fear I'll have to resort to a coin toss at the end to chose the winner!)

@sub30s, I really liked drafts #32 and #31 font selection and overall idea, but I loved the effect you've applied to the 'R' in drafts #30, #29, #28. Is it possible for you to provide the same designs for drafts #32 and #31 with that same effect on the R, extending it with that same arrow?

@sub30s, thank you for those very strong submissions! You've got the talent! That said, I feel most designs here (not only yours) are missing one important aspect: a mark/symbol to make the site recognizable in addition to the text. Just like your own logo design for Somerset Family Eye Care (very nice BTW). It don't need to be the recycle sign which would be too trivial and evident, but I think that's one thing still missing in most designs here. I liked the mouse pointer near the play sign in drafts #32 and #31, I wonder if it could be a hand-point... Or, maybe something that could look like a person using a game-pad... Oh my! My ideas are never really great anyway, so feel free to do anything you think is a nice idea for a "recycling video-game" site...

@InFluxDesign, you've really improved over your original submission with draft #27, it really looks good, although it lacks a little of the finesse of traceygl draft #13 (no subtle gloss effect, don't look so good very small) but it is very interesting, and now I just can't say for sure who's gonna get the prize anymore!!! Thanks for twisting my mind... ;-)

I've updated the ratings to reflect better which designs are more promising and also to have more room to "maneuver"...

#19 is very nice and promising. I don't know if it was intended but the arrows form a "play" sign at the middle of the recycle sign where they intersect, but since it is not filled, it is not 100% apparent. Maybe giving it some color to make that inner "play" icon stand out a little could make this a very good candidate! That said, the textual part lacks some of the finesse found in #13

There is something good in #18, but the sign and the text don't fit well together, they look like disconnected entities. Also, the orange behind the recycle sign is way too reddish.

@loudenvier I do think adding anything else may be a little overkill but I will give it some more thought ,see what I can come up with :)

Draft #15 looks better than #14, but it lacks in balance and finesse, but is a step in the right direction!

Guys, I would like to remind that I really like logos that include an abstract mark (Uses abstract shapes and symbols to convey an idea or attribute about the organization).

@lovatodesign, I've rated your design 2 stars because I really feel something is missing from it. I've seen your other designs and they impart a message, but this one here don't.

@traceygl, I simply loved drafts #13 and #12, although the color scheme of #13 fits better. I would love to give it 4,5 stars. It's nice to see that you've integrated "something" from your saletime logo that I loved into this new design. The font selection is very good and really fits a site that wants to bring joy to its audience. Thanks! I don't know if there is anything we can do to improve that! Normally, less is more! I like a lot the recycle sign with the globe that shikaka used in draft #6, but I think that maybe incorporating something similar in your design may be overkill, because of the already stylized P that can serve very well as a sign for the site too... way to go man (or woman, I don't really know)!

    @loudenvier
Thanks for the positive feedback, let me know if you come up with any improvement ideas I can work with. In the meantime I will come up with some things that will work on a blue background as well.
    Cheers

I want to take a moment to make a comment concerning the U$ 180 prize offered. I think it is comparatively low for the good work that is coming up here, but I want to explain that we (me) are a Brazilian startup, and if we would take a PPP (purchasing power parity) approach to convert this prize to what it really means for our Brazilian pockets, we would have to adjust it to over U$ 800. This means that for a Brazilian, paying U$ 180 is the equivalent of a US company paying a little over U$ 800. So, please, don't think we're underrating your amazing work by offering U$ 180 as the prize!

Thx for the compliments on my saletime logo and feedback on this one I will work on a few more ideas for you :)

tracygl, I think I've ruined a little your original design! The extra arrow gives a better idea of recycling, but it takes its toll in the overall balance and cleanliness of the logo that your original design had. The stronger gloss highlight didn't worked out as I wished, and, in fact, the original subtle gloss effect came to grow with me and I'm really enjoying it. I also think the all caps didn't play well with the stylized P in the middle. And I know I'm the only one to blame for my "design" ideas! I think its better to let the ones that know their chores do the work and just appreciate it here because you guys (and let me tell you one thing: your saletime logo is simply AMAZING!)

Shikaka, nice twist with draft #6, it now ranks as good as the others!

Drafs #4 and #5 are very nice. I specially liked the little twist in the 'p'. I think that it may be even possible to extend the idea and use the "recycle" sign in place of the single arrow there... I just don't think that the font selection was perfect. Sometimes I like it, sometimes I don't like it much. I also prefer draft #5 due to the iphone-like glass effect, but I think it may be too subtle and made the logo looks somewhat washed out. With some twists I think it may reach 4 stars!

I've downgraded every rates a single star because I want to have more room to grade upcoming drafts and compare everything. I've I don't like a design I'll eliminate it. All designs that are rated are those that I liked. 1 star = Good, 2 = In the right track, 3 = Worth candidate, 4 = Almost the one, 5 = That's it for sure!

I've eliminated draft #2 because it is just a rip-off of a FlipScript output (willing or not! :-). Don't get me wrong, I love ambigrams, but I've already bought a version of Replay from FlipScript (I'll upload it to show the idea) but I think it requires manual refinements that I can't hope to do with my dubious GIMP skills...

Draft #3 looks very, very promising. In fact I'm trying to think of ideas on how to provide feedback to make it better but my mind is failing me (perhaps that means it is already a very, very good concept after all). One issue I'm foreseeing is that it may be a little hard to place this logo over an already blue background like the current website layout uses, but I'm more than willing to make a little redesign of the site in favor of such a nice-looking logo (perhaps eliminating some color from the site will make it look better and cleaner in the end anyway...)

Draft #1 is very nice, in the lines of what I was looking for. I didn't rate it higher because I'm feeling that it is missing a reference to gaming or culture in general... But it is certainly in the right track. Thanks!
