Thanks everyone for your amazing entries. I truly appreciate all of your hard work and creativity.
anybody's game now :)

Thanks people, I really appreciate all your hard work and brilliant creativity. Over 200 drafts, that's incredible. It will be hard to rate all of these and ultimately select one!

eatmeforlunch, simeutify, tkdesign: I'm very sorry but I will not be choosing your designs. Thanks for all your time and effort!
floraa: thanks for the variations. At this point, I'm not feeling it yet, so if you think you can spice it up in the last couple of hours, please feel free. I kept #158.
khegqui: lots of ideas and color palettes again. To be honest, I think your previous batch was a little stronger, so I kept those.
niklasiliffedesign: I indeed like the upwards version of #172 better, thanks for showing. Also, out of the other designs I think #173 is the nicest one.
fedora: cool entry! I really think you're onto something by using the cross, square, triangle and circle elements. Could you maybe see if you could go all out with that theme? So just have only those elements on the cards, the 'J', 'Q', 'K' and'A' can go if you ask me. Maybe trying to arrange the cards so that all four elements are visible. Finally, don't be afraid to take out the swirly line either. Looking forward to an update!
badjaklaut: very nice! Would you please try to make the gamepad graphic even more simple? Just a silhouet, maybe between what you have now and the one in #83. Also, please try to flip the angle of the gamepad, so that instead of going down (from left to right), it goes a little up (from left to right). You had it in #130, though that's a little too far up I think. Try to make the logo as positive and dynamic as possible!

JaxDesign, jimmytearaway, wiena, taongsaging, ashada: I'm sorry but I will not be choosing any of your designs. Thanks for taking part in the challenge!
floraa: looks like you're currently submitting new work. I'll check it out in the next round.
khegqui: you offered a lot of variations again, I picked the best ones. (I did like the playful layout of the slogan, but decided to drop those as well).
badjaklaut: thanks for making the requested adjustments, very nice work. Perhaps make the gamepad graphic a bit smaller, and a bit more readable? In the smaller version, it's hard to make out it's a gamepad. Perhaps a silhouet like some of the other designers used would work better. Also, the swirling lines might look nicer when a bit more subtle.
tkdesign: sweet design, looks quite stylish. Almost for a jewelry store! I liked #128 better.
zillustrations: super. I just sent you a few extra comments in a private message.
niklasiliffedesign: I hope to see one or two more variations by you before the competition is over!
simeutify: cool evolution!

pixeloven, sergiulazin, vivster: it's a shame, but I decided not to keep your designs. Based on all the other entries, I feel the designs you submitted will not turn into what I'm looking for. Thanks so much for participating!
khegqui: you definitely win the award for highest number of drafts! :) Thanks again for all the options. I like #96, though the cord should probably be done a bit cleaner (the thickness is a bit off at places). #97, #98 and #99 are cool, but a bit too abstract. #103 is more like your first designs. Out of all of them, I kept #96 and #109.
niklasiliffedesign: thanks again for adding color. #112 is much better than #89. #115 feels a bit too much. I liked the layout of the cards in #117, and makes me wonder about a version in which the cards don't go down such as in #112, but instead go up? And would you mind trying different colors for #116? #54 still looks good too.
floraa: welcome to the competition. Your design is quite straightforward. Do you think you could make it more unique? Also, please read some of the extra comments I made in the messages below. Thanks!
eatmeforlunch: ha, that's so clever! Really made me smile, which is a good sign. Not sure what you'd like to change about it, but please feel free to come up with a variation. Also, please keep in mind that there's a space between the two words of 'WILD CARD'.
ashadat: thanks for your entry. I believe 'WILD' is written in the StarCraft font, and 'CARD' in the Sega font? I feel you would need to take it quite a bit from here to make it compete with the others. Good luck!
simeutify: interesting twist to make the two words of different size in #111. The graphic element is nice too. As I've said in the comments below, I'm looking for something fresh, do you think you could take yours in that direction? Please do not use black + red such as in #106.
wiena: truth be told, I still think the first design you did, #73, shows the most promise. Please read the comments I made below about one of the cards being flung from left to right. I think that would produce the most dynamic result.
badjaklaut: as before, great work. I like #104 and #120 best. I just sent you a few extra comments in a private message.
zillustrations: nice, I like the saturated colors. Also good call to rotate the card just a little in #121, please go with that angle. I also kept #100. Maybe make one or two more color variations?
Thanks everyone, time for one or two more rounds of revisions!

vivster: better font, definitely! The shading in #75 is a bit flat however, if you want it to be there make it intentional. Also, I appreciate the new slogans, that's a nice twist. Out of your three designs you made, I like #76 best so far.
khegqui: had another look at your entries, and I'm thinking #64 has more potential.
zillustrations: great improvements! I like the symbols cleverly positioned into one another. #87 is my favorite. Would you mind trying a few unique colors in that one?
taongsaging: welcome to the party! Strong start, reminds me a bit of the Bacardi logo! :) I believe the slogan definitely has a place, so I chose #86.
badjaklaut: awesome! Really fresh, and I like how you offer two different layouts. The dpad buttons on the card is a nice graphical element. Comparing it to your previous one, I'd like the slogan to be a bit bigger again. Also, maybe add a secondary color to see the effect? Again, really solid work!
jimmytearaway: I replied to your private message. #74 was a worthy investigation, but for now I'm sticking with #70.
mohnishmistry: wow, great stuff! I really appreciate all the variations and different designs you're posting. Tough to eliminate a few of them! Gut feeling resulted in the designs still in the race. Even though I like the orange ones, orange + brown feels retro, and orange + green feels tropical. The others are fresh / professional! Minor request: would you mind taking out the 'W' and 'C' on the cards? Even two 'A's for 'ace' would be better. Thanks!
wiena: fun! #73 seems to say: 'I got out!', #92: 'pick me, pick me!' and #93: 'hidden weapon'. Based on your designs, I would like to see one with a stack of three or four cards on the LEFT hand side of the logo, and a card being flung out to the RIGHT hand side of the logo. I think that will support the dynamic. If you are familiar with the X-Men, think Gambit! :)
niklasiliffedesign: thanks a lot for adding color, #89 especially is quite remarkable now! Maybe try that one with the cards of the word 'CARD' in different colors, and letters of the word 'WILD' all in the same? Maybe even white. I do like #54.
General feedback: I've said it before, but please stay away from the generic black + red color schemes. Unfortunately, those designs come across as too obvious. The trick is to surprise the brain by combining elements that normally don't appear together.
Keep up the good work, give it your best, the finale is in less than two days!

khegqui: just replied to your private message. Thanks for all those variations, I made a few tough calls and kept the best ones.
JaxDesign: nice, thanks for the extra color palettes! Would you be able to post one or two more? And I'm thinking there might need to be a tiny bit more space between 'WILD' and 'CARD', giving the logo a bit of room to breathe maybe.
badjaklaut: I like what you did there! The quality is still present, but the layout and vibe is better. Would you mind trying a different graphic on the cards? And maybe a color different from the dark red / brown you currently have? Make it fresh, make it pop!
jimmytearaway: subtle, nice job! I like the visual element, and how it connects to the font. Much more elegant that the last version. Minor detail: maybe flip the lower 'W' 180 degrees, just like on playing cards? For the rest: I believe this particular design is close to its final form. If you'd want to participate in the challenge with another one, please feel free, thanks!
niklasiliffedesign: nice addition! Just like your first one: makes a modest impression at first, but then it hits you how clear and elegant it is. Good job!
wiena: just saw your entry while typing this feedback. Welcome to the competition! Nice first design, I like it. Cool to see a sense of motion in there. In your message you wrote 'wild card to jump', thats cool. I'd be interested in seeing what happens if either: more than one card jump around (fun!) or: the card is actually thrown out of the other cards. That could be a powerful thing too: you have a hand of cards, but at any time you can play a WILD CARD! :)
Project Holder
khegqui: just replied to your private message.
JaxDesign: lots of variations, thanks! Out of all of them, I like #24 the best. It's clean, readable and features a nice font in all caps, plus a graphic element. Great job! I'd love to see a version with colors other than the standard black and red please.
sergiulazin: cool entries! I definitely like the gamepad element, that put a smile on my face. Out of the two designs, I like the one with the white background best (#30). Not quite sure what the beams out of the gamepad are supposed to be. If you have more inspiration to take it from here, I'd like to see it!
vivster: super clean! Clever substitution of the 'A'. Do you think you could take it a step further and make it a bit more robust?
pixeloven: cheers for the font update. Looks good, although overall maybe a bit more 'traditional' or 'classic'. I think I might be looking for something a little more 'pop' and modern.
jimmytearaway: I like the layout of your design. Fresh to see all the elements stacked on top of each other. The fonts could be a bit stronger I believe. Also, the 'W' in the center of the card might not convey the fresh, strong identity I am looking for. I'm interested in seeing where you can take this to.
badjaklaut: cool entry, thanks! Loving the production quality, and I'm pleasantly surprised by the inclusion of the slogan. Seems to work quite well! The face appears a bit 'exotic', would you be able to include a different graphical element maybe?
niklasiliffedesign: yeah, there's something quite nice about yours! It looks simplistic at first, but when you look at it for a little longer, it turns out it's elegant. Just checked your portfolio, I like your QMARKTS design! Do you think you could add a bit of color to this one?
zillustrations: good start! The brand name really pops out. Not quite sure about the joker face though. Even though the visual is nice, I think it might be a bit too 'obvious'. Also, please include a space between the two words: 'WILD CARD'. Looking forward to your next variation!
mohnishmistry: wow, great stuff in there! I really like the gamepad element. #32, #33 and #34 are really cute, remind me a bit of the Twitter logo. The cards in #34 and #35 are very nice, please keep those in! I like #35 quite a bit. Could you try different colors (no red + black combo) and maybe see if you could write 'WILD CARD' in all caps and on one line instead of above one another? Again, really great stuff!
Thanks folks, this is such an uplifting experience.

pixeloven: thanks for the variations. I think #11 is a bit crowded, and therefore I eliminated it. #12 is cool, but I believe dice are not supporting the brand properly. I'm afraid I took that one out as well. Leaves #13, interesting to put a 'sage' in there. I would like to see a stronger focus on the brand name, if possible.
khegqui: thanks for your designs, good start! I definitely like you're concentrating on the name. All caps reads well too. Practically speaking, please write 'WILD CARD' as two seperate words. I'd like to see how your design will evolve from #14 please.
General comment: I added an image to the design brief. It shows two fonts I like, just to give an idea of the sort of impact I hope my logo will have.
To any other designers out there: please have a go at this challenge, I look forward to your entries!

#1 #2 JaxDesign: that's looking pretty sharp already, but seeing it in a logo, I think we should move away from the abbreviation. So no 'WC' please, instead focus on the word Wild Card.
#4 J2RJJR: I feel that maybe there's too much going on in your design. I appreciate you tried to put all the sublabels in there, but there's probably no room for them. Also, the card theme is cool but it feels a bit too obvious.
#5 BellaB: Thank you for your design, but I'm afraid it's not of the quality I'm looking for. In such early phases, it might be an idea to keep the number of colors to a minimum, and to focus on shapes and overall form.
#6 #7 pixeloven: I like those! The hand with an eye might be a bit too Illuminati for my taste, but the overall look is nice. I'd be careful with placing the image in front of the brand name, makes it harder to read. Also, seeing your design I think I'd like to try a thicker font please.
#8 #9 #10 webolski: wow, very nice graphics! They really jump out at you, in a good way. Truth be told I'm less keen on the banner gradient, because it makes it hard to read the brand name. Do you think you could maybe flip it around and make the brand name the centerpiece, and have a supporting visual element?
Thanks again people! I do appreciate your time and energy.
A few general pointers based on this first batch:
* Go for the whole word 'Wild Card', no 'WC' please.
* The brand name should be at the center of the design.
* The brand name should be readable, so perhaps a fairly thick font would be good.
* I'm interested in seeing all caps for WILD CARD.
* Be careful with the card game theme, there's a big risk for cliche.
* If the sublabels and / or slogan don't fit, just leave them out.
Good luck!
