#97, #93 no trademarked logos please (Nike swoosh)

#71 could we see this design with three B's in the logo (just like #54). The key difference we like are the outline on the logo part and the text treatment (color/font) of the "BIGBLOKE BASICS".

Very nice work so far. You've put in a lot of effort.

#44 awesome design... small typo... its "bloke" not "blokes".

    very nice work though!

#10 could you remove the background gradient and use more subtle colors (not bright primary colors - pick 1 color and use shades of it rather than strongly contrasting colors like bright red/ bright blue).

#30 nice concept, a little to heavy (too much black). Not enough detail.

#29 really like this design, however could you change the font to a san-serif alternative?

#24, #28 - looks better with the new "B". However a little too much red in the design now.

Although I like the character, I don't think it quite goes with the design theme of the text. Also, I'd rather not portray any images of "large men" in our logo. I don't want to offend customers.

Maybe something a little more abstract for the logo part? Have a look at some of the other designs... some creative use of the letter "B" so far.

#25, #26, very nice designs. Perfect as-is. Would like to see a color variation if possible. Blue, orange, maybe a grey scale version as well. Just shift the hue of the existing design.

Really liking your designs. Well done.

#19 could you make the "B3" in the logo part a much thicker font, also make the B and 3 touch. The "B3" should appear to extend beyond the boarder of the square.

Also, please remove the gradient from the square. The red/orange color you have used it nice. Keep it.

Overall we like the concept, just needs a few tweaks. Nice work.

#20 could you make a version with the "basic" as more of a tag line underneath? See #19 or #25 for an example of what i mean.

Also, could you provide 2-3 examples of different colors? maybe an orange, blue and red version. Just shift the hue of the current color.

very nice design overall. well done.

#17, #18 could you avoid the use of bright primary colors? maybe make them a 2-3 shades darker? or use 3 shades of the same color (say blue or green).

Also, could you make the stroke on the "B"s in the logo slightly thicker?

    otherwise, nice work so far.

#11 could we see a version on a white background? also maybe a different font for the "big bloke"?

***** ADDITIONAL DESIGN BRIEF NOTES *****

as the business name is 3 words that start with the letter "B", feel free to use some form of B3, or Bx3, BX3, B^3 (B cubed), etc.

The company name should still be there, however you could use the "B3" as part of the abstract logo. Just an idea. Feel free to improvise on the abstract component.

***** ADDITIONAL DESIGN BRIEF NOTES *****

Firstly, thanks to every who has submitted a draft thus far. Your effort is greatly appreciated.

However, overall the designs seem a little too colorful. A bit too busy and too much use of gradients and drop shadows.

I'd like to see some simpler designs that are restricted to 2 or 3 solid colors. Try to avoid heavy use of primary colors. You can still use red/blue/yellow... but not 100% brightness... tone it down a little bit. We don't want the logo to look gimmicky.

Also, Along with the more simple design, we'd like to add an abstract shape or object. It can be anything you want. It doesnt have to mean anything or be an obvious object. It can be something as simple as an asterisk (*), circle, any random polygon shape or simple pattern.

Think of all the big apparel brands - nike, adidas, etc. They all have some abstract simple logo that is easily identifiable.

For inspiration, take a look at the following links:
    http://www.fuelyourcreativity.com/50-kick-ass-logos-for-inspiration/

    http://www.designyourway.net/blog/identity-and-branding/43-of-the-best-logos-of-january-and-february/

You'll notice that the vast majority of those logos all have the company name in a nice simple font and use a single solid color (almost no gradient effects or drop shadows). It's the small abstract logo design for each that makes them really stand out. We'd like something similar for our business.

One last point, if you want to convey a gradient effect, use 2-3 shades of a single color and band them rather than make a smooth gradient.

Look forward to seeing what you guys come up with next. Thanks again for your hard work thus far. Greatly appreciated.

#14 looks a little too much like a competitor logo (www.lowes.com.au)

#13 really like the overall design, however the middle "B" is a German "sharp S" letter. I realize it looks like a "B" but might look a little silly to those who know the character. Maybe try a "B" in a different yet similar font?

#4 and #9 the character looks interesting. Not a huge fan of the font/text-treatment. Also could you come up with a more horizontal version? Current one is a little square. I feel a more horizontal design would be significant more usable on our website and print collateral.

Could you provide a simple 2-tone (black/white) version as well?

draft #8 - like this design, could you fix the red (it's a slightly different red to the inside of the "B") and perhaps make the bottom red part look more like a clothing tag? or at least round the bottom corners a little?

  • March 12, 2011 9:11 AM DDesign

some feedbacks so i can improve #4 or #5? thx

Draft #3. Could you constrict the black border to the outline of the lettering rather than being the free form design it is now. Possibly a version with a different font. I like the idea of a character. However a character a little more defined would be better. More of an illustration/cartoon effect.

Draft #1 - could you possibly change the font for the word BIG or make it bolder? also a monotone or greyscale version for black and printing would be great.

The current design at www.bigblokebasics.com.au is a temporary / throw-away design. Your new design should be done from scratch and NOT a redesign of the current logo. Thanks.
