Thank you everyone for your work.

Ddesign, your work's amazing and I would have happily used #25 or #17.

    Mediatek, #16 was great, too.

I'll make sure I recommend you both to any other bands looking for a logo.

Kunza and ginobrown, I love your work too and I'd also have been happy to make #26 or #30 the winner.

In the end I chose #22 as the winner because it has my favourite playing card design, name banner and jack illustration.

    Thanks again everyone,
    Greg

    #20

Kunza, thank you, this design is almost exactly what I'm looking for.

    Could you change the following...

The name should be The Scarlet Jacks not Scarlet Jack.

Could you put the name on a scroll-style banner across the middle rather than in a diagonal stripe?

And could you change the colours so it's just in dark red, black and faded white? If that's impossible with your design, and you need a fourth colour, could you go for royal blue?

    Again, wonderful design, thank you!

#11 - Mediatek, this keeps getting better every time.

Could you try a few more changes -

Could the name banner be bigger, and the name be in the font Faith Collapsing, like the Js.

I love the Jacks' bodies, but the faces look a bit cartoonish - could you try giving them faces that are a bit simpler and more serious / sombre, and in profile - a bit like these:

    Thank you!

#15 - thanks for making the change, the name's much clearer now.

This design is great - the colours are perfect and it feels very mediaeval - brilliant!

The style of illustration is ideal, but having looked at all the designs, I'd ideally like the playing card to feature a Jack rather than a minstrel / musician - perhaps a simpler version of this:

    Would you mind trying that?
    Thanks.

#14 - thanks for another inventive design.

I like the playing card, I like the font you've used for the letter Js on the card, and I like the faded, old feel and colours.

I think a playing card is definitely the right option, but having had a look at all the designs, much as I like your violin illustrations I think that rather than musical instruments the playing card needs to feature a Jack illustration, along the lines of this:

#11 - I like the faded look - this is really promising...

Could I ask you to try making your Jacks illustrations more like the characters from this Tarot Card illustration?

    #10

Hi DDesign - thanks for a brilliant design.

I like the illustration, the heart and diamond, the font, and most of all the faded yellow / white colour you've used to make it look old.

My concern is that the name isn't very legible and clear, particularly the word "Jacks" - I'd still like it to be big but I wonder if there's any way it could be clearer?

    Thanks.

#9 - newlandconceptart, thanks for another fantastic design.

Great illustration - I especially like the daggers!

There are still a few things that aren't quite right for me...

    Jacks' faces...
Could you try making the Jacks' faces look more like the characters from this Tarot Card illustration?
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Cups02.jpg

    Font...
I see what you mean about the font Faith Collpasing being quite blurry and hard to read - would you mind trying a font like the one used here:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Pents11.jpg

    Colour...
In terms of colour, could you try giving the card a slightly antique look, making the whites faded to grey or yellow - again, a bit like these colours:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Cups11.jpg

    Size of name...
Finally, I love the scroll effect you've used - could you try the name a bit bigger?

    Thanks.

Everyone - here's another great example of a mediaeval style playing card to inspire you...

Draft #4 - hi, MediaTek, and thanks for a terrific design - I think this one has real potential.

Here's what I love about it...

Great faded background giving it an olde-worlde look.

Great colours - especially the deep red.

Great illustrations of the violin and guitar.

Use of both heart and diamond together.

My issue with it is that it currently looks a bit too much like a beer mat rather than a playing card! - could it be reworked to be more like a playing card?

I'm also not keen on the font - would you mind trying a more mediaeval font like Faith Collapsing or Magda?

    Thanks!

Draft #4 - hello, newlandconceptart, and thanks for your comments and designs, which are absolutely fantastic.

Of the three designs, I like #4 best - I think this design has real potential, but will require a few changes.

I love the playing card itself, especially the scarred edges and tilted alignment.

I also love the bold colours.

Let's stick with the 2D style.

In terms of changes, as brilliant as the design is, I'd like it to look a bit more mediaeval, so...

Could you try the name bigger?

Could you try a more mediaeval font for the band name - Faith Collapsing

Could you keep the hearts at the top but use diamonds at the bottom?

The illustration of the Jack is great, but to me it should look less like a King, more like a Jack (in other words, no crown!)

I'd also prefer the illustration of the Jack to be less cartoon-ish and more mediaeval in style...

Some example mediaeval illustrations from the Rider waite tarot deck: http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/cards/rider-waite/

Hope that's okay - any questions, just let me know... thanks!

Draft #2 - thanks for your work, anoise. I particularly like the moody dark red and black colouring you've used. In this case, though, I'm going to go for a playing card style design as in designs 4 and 7.

Draft #1 - thanks for your design, which looks great. I like the mediaeval font and the combination of both a heart and a diamond. However, I think I'm going to go for a playing card style design, as in designs 4 and 7.
