This logo is for our annual conference. The name of the conference is RWA2015 (all one word). We want to include the date and the location. The design should emphasis that the conference is being held in New York City (that's important).
Our name - Romance Writers of America - can be added to logo if it works with the design. But, it is not necessary.

NO flowers, hearts or anything that you might think of as associated with romance. We are a PROFESSIONAL TRADE organization. We deal with anti-piracy legislation, contracts, editors, agents, etc. for our members who are authors of romance novels. Our image can be fun, but not stereotypical.
This logo is for our annual conference where members come to attend workshops and meet with publishers and agents. It is a professional conference for authors only - no fans are allowed to attend.
The logo DOES NOT necessarily have to match our website. In fact, we prefer that it does not match since the conference is a completely separate thing.
We are looking for strong, vibrant colors and a design that is smart, fun, sophisticated and versatile. The logo will be reproduced in a number of sizes since it will be used in numerous ways including banners, give-aways, bags, programs, pre-conference advertising and much more.
I am happy to upload logos from past conferences if it would be helpful.
We want to show that the conference is in New York - that is always important to our potential registrants. One way of doing that might be to show the name of the hotel (New York Marriott Marquis). We also need to show the date, although it does not have to be at all dominant.
