Describe who/what this design is about

This logo is for a veterinary facility that focuses on physical therapy, hospice and end of life care, as well as boarding and daycare. The name of the facility will be "The Good Life." I would like the logo to represent professionalism, but also compassion and caring without getting too cute.

I'm looking for a simple and elegant logo in simple colors, perhaps even black and white, or possibly with a fading sun in the background?

Do you have any additional suggestions or ideas?

I am looking for an elegant design incorporating a dog, a cat, and a symbol for medicine, such as a stethoscope. I'm including rough pencil sketches, but am looking for more stylized animals, maybe looking at each other for a more intimate effect, and I like the idea of incorporating a subtle heart shape with the stethoscope.
