Kikoy NY manufactures high-end casual and active wear for children.
As a brand, Kikoy NY stands for versatility. Its products are high-quality and all convey a sense of uniqueness. Kikoy NY products use 100% Kenyan cotton yarn.

The brand must have a premium feel, but grounded in the insight that, more than anything, the products reflect a desire for a simple life in the face of modern demands. We are never wasteful.

The product.
Kalulu Kids is our children’s line of clothing and accessories. Kalulu means hare in an east African language and the name was borne out of the founder’s memories of sitting outside in her parent’s backyard, roasting corn on a traditional stove and listening to stories about the hare and the tortoise. Because the weather can get quite chilly in both Kenya and Uganda in the evenings, the founder would often be wrapped in a kikoy for warmth. Nevertheless, the kikoy is extremely versatile and is often used as a cover up at the beach. Our line of products includes:

The Kids line is made from the kikoy: a colorful material, made of 100% Kenyan cotton yarn. A traditional East African material, kikoys can now be seen on the beaches of the Mediterranean worn by celebrities and socialites alike, as sarongs and cover-ups.

Kikoy NY creates beautiful, colorful garments that parents will appreciate. The material is lightweight and suitable for spring through fall.

Our target.
Kalulu kids is made to be worn by children all day through spring and summer, from outings to the beach, day trips to the local tennis and golf club and country day trips. Our clothing however, is smart casual and can also double up for a summer barbecue, class photo or birthday party. If you are urban cool kind of parent that is interested in colorful clothing with an edge, then you will love Kalulu kids. We are primarily interested in selling to our end customer through boutique children’s stores.


Why Kalulu?
Our kikoys are unique. A kikoy is not just a garment it is a work of art using the vibrant colours which are reminiscent of the region. The cotton, which is woven and spun in east africa is mostly dyed with eco certified dyes from Europe. This gives an enduring quality not usually found with the old traditional dyes.
The manufacturing process itself remains very traditional with looms threaded by craftsmen almost like a Persian carpet. This means each kikoy could be said to be unique as there will be minute differences in each batch of looming.
