Groundtruth

Yes

Groundtruth specializes in building performance, damage assessment and failure analysis—generally called "forensic engineering" albeit we perform other services such as the preparation of remediation protocols and cost estimates.

The scope of work ranges from windstorms, tornados, hurricanes, floods, fires, earthquakes, building defects, mold all-the-way-to slip&falls.

Work is not limited to homes. Often, we inspect hotels, schools, churches, condos, etc.

my appologies for not being able to make the changes requested. On #3 I'd be happy to do so if you extend the contest or even choose as the winner. It was ment to look owl-ish but have no problem going another direction with it. Thanks

Can you rate the designs? Otherwise it's like walking in a dark maybe.

We love everything we're seeing. For future designs (and designers) we believe want either a very simple, serious logo and/or a logo that will be used AS the marker on maps in our reports. Just keep that in mind as you tinker.

I think we're going in the wrong direction. Let's pull away from the investigation side of the business; perhaps, engineering/science is the way to go. I do enjoy the simple elegance of #1. We're also interested in the concept of #3 if we can redraw the G--or perhaps, replace the G. The logo will appear mostly on reports. It will not be used to catch the eye of a driver going down the road. Those who will see the logo will already be familiar with the company. That said, a less “busy” logo would be best. Think of it closer to a branding rather than an eye-catcher. But all-in-all don't hold back. Use the comments as a rough guide. Don't let it override your artistic preferences. Keep up the good work!

Two quick notes There should be no emphasis on "truth”—keep consistency through the entire word. I made a mistake in describing the bossman’s desire for crosshairs. He says, in the old days, crosshairs were used to mark specific locations on maps. Now, we see a large variety of shapes and symbols. So, keep in mind that the crosshair design—if you decide to use it—should relate to that concept.

Just a side note, although we have fulltime PEs, we are not currently registered as an engineering firm in every state we do business. So, at the time, we cannot have the word "engineering" in our logo. Also, Draft #3, I think the bossman will enjoy your use of the crosshair. However, I noticed that the G looks slightly like a sideview of a bird. Now that I saw it once, I cannot unburn the image for the back of my mind. Could you kindly alter the G slightly to remove this illusion? Also just a hint to any interested designer...we have no clear direction for the desired logo. When we see it, we'll know. So keep it different and keep it inspired! I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's design.

The bossman is away for 1 more day so you'll have to suffer from a lack of input until then. Just go wild. I'm surprised that the color scheme for draft 1 actually works. I'm not saying use nothing but those colors--in fact, go ahead and do whatever is best. But, it may be a good idea to keep that color scheme in mind. I have a feeling that's going to be the desired color by the bossman. Also, you don't have to make this the focus of the design, but feel free to try incorporating a building or engineering/field-inspection tools. But seriously, you’re the pros and I’m not. Go ahead and do what you feel is best. We may slightly tweek it at worst. It’s your art we’re purchasing—make it yours.
