I prefer a symbol that is in line with (and a similar scale) to the font. This will work best when used on the website as "powered by (symbol) smartourist"
I am quite impressed by some of the designs that have come in (although there isn't a winner yet) and thought I'd make some comments to give some guidance.
Font: I am prefering designs with a clean crisp font.
Colours: Stronger colours are my preference, although some designs with a pastel colour work well on different backgrounds. I also don't mind the use of blended colours through the designs. This may be important for the web application where it will appear on different backgrounds.
Symbols: If a symbol is used (and I like some of the ideas!!) I'd prefer something with flowing curves rather than harsh and angular. It reflects the organic nature of the business.
Tagline: The business has two markets. One is tourism businesses (who the tagline is designed to appeal to) andf the other is tourists (who the tagline is irrelevant to) so the tagline should only to be used in the stationary.
